The leaders of the Jewish Revolt are said to have been Izates and Kennadaeus, who came from Adiabene which lay 'beyond the Euphrates'. But where was this mythical location? In reality, Adiabene was Edessa in northern Syria - but Josephus Flavius has deleted Edessa from history. Why? Because the history of Edessa is far too close to Gospel history for ecclesiastical comfort.
